The rain has gone and so have our guests. This has given us time to do a bit of star photography and explore the more remote sites that we survey. Twilight Cove is only 27 kilometres away along the coast and the trip is slow, taking two hours to get there but it’s worthwhile.
We travel down the Limestone Track then onto the Twilight Cove track which traverses a limestone headland covered by coastal heathland and mallee then we follow a sandy track behind the foredunes and onto the pure white sand of Wader Beach. There are plenty of beach scenes and limestone outcrops to photograph.
While we collect plenty of beach rubbish, most of it commercial fishing gear, we are excited to see whales. They are so close to the beach and we are not sure who is watching who.

Southern Right Whale
Eubalaena australis

Wow – that whale is almost on the beach! Very special to see. Love your photos and stories.
