High Country, ranges, hills and desert. 25 Aug 2023

Another cool start to the day but the morning sun soon warms us up. It’s into Tamworth to do some shopping and visit the Golden Guitar.

Southward bound to Musselbrook a town engulfed in traffic and blanketed in dust from the massive coal mines and smoke from nearby bushfire, we avoid stopping here, not an appealing region. However, the next stage of the trip along the Bylong Valley Way to our campsite at Ilford is stunning. Beautiful sandstone ranges with an occasional volcanic relic, woodlands and farmland along the valley makes for a very pretty drive.

We camp at a free campsite Jaron Park, provided by the Ilford Hall Reserve Trust, (found on Wiki) all they ask is one keeps the campsite and facilities clean and a donation to keep it going.

It is going to be a cold night so we retreat into the warmth of our camper, 4.8 °C

In the morning we are greeted by blue sky and frost, doesn’t seem to bother the birdlife, which there is plenty of.
