We are on the road again and have travelled through Cummins, stopping at the bakery, which is wonderful, then onto Lock and Minnipa.
Camp tonight is at Pildappa Rock, an Inselberg on Eyre Peninsula, South Australia’s version of Wave Rock. A stunning granite outcrop, it is only 15kms from the Eyre Highway north of Minnipa.
This is a wonderful natural feature providing habitat and water for many species. On top we found rock holes full of water and plenty of water creatures including tadpoles.
The campground is on private property ($20 per vehicle) and has flushing toilets and ample space to spread out your campsite, in our case we have the entire campsite to ourselves. A shared campfire site is provided and it looks like road and walking trails have recently been upgraded.
We have a great view of the Gawler Range to the north.
