Today was a good day, after a particularly cold morning we travelled the back roads and traffic was rare, with the exception when driving into and around Tumut. The climb to the top of the Brindabella Ranges, have a chat with a cyclist who road 35 km from Canberra most of it uphill. It’s then onto Tumut, the surrounds and the Murray Valley was spectacular.
We restock at Tumut, a town worthy of exploring, with good facilities.
At the Southern Cloud memorial lookout we could see snow capped ranges in the distance, a very pretty sight.
We have a quick stop at Tooma and continue onto our camp 20 metres from the Murray River on the Victorian side of the border. A big camp fire keeps us warm and when we head for bed we can hear the Murray River waters babbling by.
