High Country, ranges, hills and desert 28 Aug 2023

We enjoy a day of touring the Australian War Memorial with a volunteer guide, we highly recommend this if you do ever visit, they are very good and add real value to the experience.

We also visit the old Parliament House, this too is really worth visiting. The display of political cartoons on the ground floor is enlightening and a provides plenty of good laughs. The first floor was equally informative giving you an understanding of the day to day machinery of government, and just how hard staff worked, the conditions they worked under – ‘cheek by jowl’ and the furnishings and facilities by today standards was very ordinary.

We enjoy lunch with family in down town Canberra, plenty of eating places to choose from, then we pickup the trailers and head west of Canberra to our next camp on the bank of the confluence of the Murrumbidgee River and Cotter River.
