NSW – VIC – SA – QLD

We are on the road again, and heading South. While the grey haired hordes have invaded the north we have decided to head into Northern NSW via Yowie country then follow just inland from the coast to Victoria to then make our way to South Australia to catchup with family.

Keeping our driving to shorter days and stopping as often and long as we like.

We follow the Lindesay Highway through the forested jagged McPherson ranges past Mount Lindesey and into Woodenbong a town of 500 nestled amongst green pasture surrounded by timbered hills. Its allegedly Yowie county. We have sighted humans matching the description but will keep a lookout.

We are camped at the Woodenbong Camping ground situated on the banks of the Lindsey Creek, which is flowing and clear. $5.00 for an unpowered site with good facilities, has basic camp kitchen. The art work on the fridge is wonderful. The day has been warm, with a few small clouds but as the sun gets closer to the horizon it is cooling off rapidly and a cold Southerly wind is picking up. The chair warmers a home made fitted fleece blanket made and given to us by Aunty Ann and the XTM Neck warmers (Snood) given to us by Erin are being put to good use. And the super scrunchy blankets from Lavinia and Bob were a god send, a 12 hour sleep when it was 4° outside.

We were also given some “Hot Hands” which is basically a sachet of Iron water vermiculite charcoal polymer and salt, which when mixed with air and shaken warms to an average temperature of 57°C, allegedly safe for the environment. You have got to love technology.

Dinner is at the local hotel. A few Yowie look a likes can be found here. Staff are friendly. Looks like frost tomorrow it will be a late start.
