2021 trip – day 25 Venus Bay to Fowlers Bay

We have left Venus Bay, travelling North then West after first back tracking to The Talia caves on the coast. The Woolshed Cave and The Tub are worth exploring, watch your step though, one can never be too sure how much ledge actually exists under foot. The view down Lake Newland Conservation Park is remote and wild. The coast continues to be a mixture of rugged jagged limestone cliffs separated by massive white dune systems, it’s isolated and breath taking.

We stop at Murphy’s Rocks, an unusual collection of Inselbergs just off the Highway makes for interesting photographs.

We drop into Streaky Bay, which is a large coastal town, plenty of ammenities and great coffee shops, towns in this part of the world seem to be closed Saturday afternoon.

Another stop at Penong to look at the Windmill museum it’s worth a look, check out the photograph.. The town is active with sport events.

It’s then onto Fowlers Bay, another coastal gem. The little community is directly adjacent to the Nuyts Archipelago Marine Park. It’s quiet, tourists and locals are about but the ocean and wind are the chief contributors to noise. The town has plenty of history and the local dune system looks inviting to explore. We manage to capture the Milky way rising over the jetty – love these night skies. and the Dark Emu continues to escort us on our journey.
