Continuing north we travel the Cordillo Downs road stopping at the causeway to observe the wildlife on the Cooper Creek. This track is less travelled, and the recent rain has turn sections of the desert into fields of grass dotted with flowering shrubs and dotted with trees.
A brief stop to look at the worlds largest wool shed with 88 stands. We also stop at the Cadelga ruins situated on a waterhole. There are a surprising number of waterholes in creeks in this barren landscape, the only giveways are an increase in trees and birds.
We make Betoota for drinks at sunset, enjoying a fire under the stars with fellow travellers. Betoota is a old pub recently reopened. Good clean facilities, friendly staff and meals available, several campsite options we stayed on the banks of the waterhole about 200m from the hotel.
