We rise to a frozen car, it’s 0.7 celsius and there is ice all over the car.

We follow the track between Lake Frome and the Gammon Ranges, the ranges are impressive. It’s a lonely road that connects with the Strzelecki Track. We stop a few times to photograph the wildflowers. Emus are abundant as are Wedgetail Eagles.

We make it to the Strzelecki Track by lunch. We head North along this track passing through miles of sand dunes and passing quite a few prime movers, these are all servicing the oil and gas fields. We pass Moomba which is a big oil/gas pressing operation.

When we reach Innaminka it’s time to setup camp on the Cooper Creek, then head back into town for a $2 shower, that’s 3 minutes, then into the hotel for drinks and dinner – what luxury.

We arrive back at our camp on the bank of the creek. We are sleeping under the stars. Dingoes are howling, camp fire smoke hangs in the air and pelicans patrol the creek. Hopefully it will be a few degrees warmer than Arkaroola was last night.
