Western Australia adventure – 13 September 2025

Another lovely morning, the wind has picked up a bit and we expect it to get stronger, it is the Windy West. Rain is expected again this evening.

We had a pair of nesting Hobbies Falco longipennis entertaining us during breakfast, they are such beautiful birds of prey.

We have a look at the artificial dams near Cave Hill, there are many birds and flowers, including orchids. Walking through groves of pink coloured flowering Tea Tree highlighted how wet the ground is, amazing for a landscape generally so dry. These outcrops are just massive in size, Marg is in one photograph with a green arrow showing her location.

We continue eastward along the Cave Hill Road then onto the Great Eastern Highway and onto Norseman. We enjoy lunch at the Full Moon Cafe and Thai Restaurant, it’s very good food, and pick up a few more stores then off to Fraser Range to camp for the night.

Historic fence posts, not sure how they placed them into solid granite?
