Another beautiful morning, some high level cloud coming in from the west, cirrus as expected, but we should have fine days until Saturday night. We are enjoying the sun, blue skies and warmer weather. We visit the nearby lake, there are many sandy shallow lakes in W.A.
First stop is the Coolgardie museum, this is a must stop venue, wonderful collection of historical items, the characters of the day, the stories, particularly about the mine rescue of Modesto Varischetti, it warms the heart and shows that humanity does have hope.
We venture into Kalgoorlie, this is a large mining town, has a Bunnings, good food, mining prices on most consumables and lots of people. We head back to Coolgardie to do some more exploring then follow Burra Rock and Cave Hill Road to the south away from the crowds.
Along the track we visit Burra Rock with its amazing man made dam. These massive granite outcrops hold water wherever there is a depression even at the very top. We continue on our way to Cave Hill, situated in the Western Woodlands it is beautiful and plenty of birds. These rocks have water running and leaching out of them, it must help the local wildlife.
