Great Australia Bight – Cliffs, sand, mallee and whales. 15 August 2024

Another amazing looking morning, with a light shower or two. We walk up to the Sunset Lookout to take a photograph and have a look about.

We visit the beach, the tide is quite high so making any beach travel a bit difficult. Another trip to a few notable sights just to show our visitors, the well makes a good talking point as there is no potable water on this landscape other than small amounts found deep amongst the dunes, which past land holders survived on, and tank water, which we rely upon.

Memorial to Explorer Edward John Eyre and the indigenous folk who made his travels successful
A good book about the explorer.
Past historical residents relied on meagre water found near dunes.
