We stopped at Wilcannia, a favourite stop for lunch on the banks of the Darling River as we are passing through but this town has really started to shine. Old buildings and information display boards are being restored and the general feeling of the town is a lot friendlier. The Wilcannia Cafe provides good coffee and meals.

Camp on the 7th was at Meralda station, a farm stay, plenty of room and clean facilities, the sunset was glorious.

As we were just outside Cobar we visited the museum, an old early 1900’s building with an interesting and very well setup display. The content and stories were interesting and would require many visits to really absorb it all. Nursing and medical support was displayed, it puts some faith back into humanity. Loved the personal stories and accounts, learnt where the saying “furphy” came from, check out the photo. The staff were an excellent wealth of knowledge as well.

Lunch naturally was at the Cobar bakery, then onto Brewarrina where we are camped on the banks of the Barwon River at a council provided free camp. Beautiful location.
