We waited to the sun to thaw us and then drove to the lookout over Victoria Falls, a narrow track, easy to drive but you must make allowance for any vehicle coming the other way, the drop off in places quite steep.
We stop at the lookout before descending into Omeo, we can see the snow covered Mt Kosciusko on the horizon. A stop at Omeo for a coffee and snack, it’s a town that has a number of beautiful old buildings.
Our journey then takes us through the mountains, at times ascending to 1,400m along the Birregun Road, to date we have seen few travelers on this dirt track and other minor roads that we have traversed. Driving on the tracks seemingly at the top of world through tall forests with great vistas is wonderful.
Camp is at Black Flat on the banks of the Little Dargo River. We enjoy a warm dinner, near a warm fire on a cold clear starry night.
