High Country, ranges, hills and desert 1 Sep 2023

We left Bright after lunch and made for our new camp at Victoria Falls, just past Mt Hotham.

We have to say the facilities at Bright Riverside Holiday Park had some of the best we have ever seen. The shower block was heated, the camp kitchen like the rest of park looked new and well maintained, wildlife wandered through the park with little care for we humans.

We picked up snow chains at Harrietville, this is a legal requirement when travelling over the range at this time of the year. While the snow cover did not provide for a great snow season it provided a spectacular looking landscape.

Snow amongst the snow gums.

We make camp before dark, dinner is around a large warm fire watching the moon rise. We head to bed when the temperature reached -0.7°C, an extra blanket on the bed tonight and the webasto diesel heater is earning its keep.

Early in the morning it reached – 5.6°C, plenty of frost, and water bucket and puddles are frozen.
