It’s a misty cool morning in Mannum, there is a river of mist flowing upstream, ferries and house boats appear then disappear into banks of fog. It makes for some interesting photos. One houseboat is sounding its fog horn, never heard that before. We have a look at the only remaining paddle-steamer dry dock just off the main street of Mannum.
We have breakfast in the park alongside the river and wander amongst the paddle steamer history dotted throughout the park. We have a look at the Mannum fossil rich limestone cliffs dated at 23 million years old (Miocene era) and rich in Sea Urchin Echinoid fossils.
Following the Murray River south and taking the opportunity to cross the river back and forth via ferry. Our journey takes us to Wellington, along the back roads to Milang past vineyards and farms, stopping for a quick walk along the jetty then onto Finniss River where a few indigenous canoe trees can still be found, and finally stopping at Victor Harbour.
