An early start today in comparison to yesterday. We drop into Charleville for fuel and go to the hardware store. We continue westward stopping for a short break at Quilberry Creek near Cooladdi, then onto lunch on the foreshore of Lake Houdraman near Quilpie. The lake is full and there plenty of birdlife. The landscape since we have left Toowoomba has been a sea of grass and it’s the same all the way to Quilpie. A lot of the creeks and overflows have water in them and the swales between some of the dunes are still waterlogged. Some of the trees and shrubs are beginning to flower and small flowering ground covers are common. We make good time to reach the Cooper Creek to setup in the light, enjoy the birdlife that inhabits the now flowing creek and get to meet the friendly flies.
