Bundanoon to Yarrangobilly

2.1 degrees this morning. We have a leisurely breakfast and head to Erith Coal mine walk. This is an old abandoned coal mine tucked into a sandstone cliff, it’s surrendering to the wild. It’s now a rainforest gully with waterfall and clear pools and running stream, well worth the walk and good exercise.

We find a wallaby long this creek with a serious back injury. Soon as we get reception we call NSW parks who call WIRES. Many thanks to this volunteer group providing a free service in rescuing injured wildlife.

We travel on down the Hume Highway, a quick stop at Goulburn to wash clothes then off again down the Yass Valley along the Wee Jasper Road to Tumut. Fires to the South of us but nothing too worrisome. We stop at the information centre at the Old Butter Factory at Tumut. It’s a big centre and the staff were very helpful. Onto Yarrangobilly Village, it’s a clear sky and cold, a fire just keeps the chill away.
