Lorella Springs to Kingfisher Camp – Day 43

Its a long drive along the Savannah Way so we can meet family at Kingfisher Camp in QLD, about 150 km North of Lawn Hill.  We chat to the owners of Lorella Springs before we leave and hope to be back this way in the future, there is plenty of country to explore.

The road is rough but vastly improved on previous years with increased grading and bitumen sections. The Savannah is far from monotonous. The jump ups, ridges and escarpments, waterways that criss cross this thirsty landscape make for many interesting stops.

We stop along Batten Creek and are lucky to see some Purple-crowned fairy wrens, this is a species disappearing from its traditional home range.

We stop at Borroloola for fuel and Hells Gate, both places have improved in service and quality based on past visits.
