At dawn I took a quick walk up to the lookout that looks West over the Mitchell Falls. This is a spot gives an appreciation of the size of the Kimberley landscape.
Dingoes could be heard howling in the sunrise and I could see the estuary sections of the river to the North. The trees were abuzz with birds.
Part of the morning is spent setting up the solar panel to keep our second battery charged, this keeps the fridge going and food edible. Photographing non cooperative birds met with some success.
Then it’s time to venture to the water, we sit and swim under Little Merton Falls enjoying the cool and and the peace (serenity). We see a family group of tiny birds among the leaves of the tree above us.
The waterhole is perfect, deep in spots but shallow enough to stand and enjoy the slow flow of crystal clear water. Though if you stand long enough in the one spot and fish take an interest in your feet.
Back to the campground for a late lunch. It’s still warm but cooler today; only 34 degrees. A family of White-Quilled Rock Pigeon walk through the grass near our camp. It’s amazing what you see if you keep quiet.
After a sit around and moving the solar panel around we head off for one more dip at Little Merton Falls and take photographs of the falls at sunset.
