Western Australia adventure – 11 May 2025

After a morning of working around the Observatory we take the afternoon off to do a westward run down Kanidal Beach taking notes of birdlife along the way. It’s a productive afternoon with a good numbers of Red-neck Stints, Calidris ruficollis and Red-capped Plovers, Charadrius ruficapillus sighted.

Plenty of seagrass and seaweed has washed up onto the beach providing homes for small invertebrates and vertebrates and other critters that the birds feed on.
