Western Australia adventure – 3 May 2025

We need to do an early run to pickup supplies from the highway, meeting the postman heading from Eucla back to Norseman, while it’s a 5am start, the bonus is we get to watch a magic sunrise and spot night birds as we travel along our deep sandy track.

It’s then back up the escarpment to undertake bird surveys along the Haig track, which chiefly travels through Bluebush country. Plenty of White-wing fairywrens are spotted. Also a chance to catch up with some of our wildlife friends.

We explore around Pannikin Doline and cave then a quick trip to Cocklebiddy to do a few chores then home again.

Enough light is left in the day to walk some of the East Track and take an opportunity to photograph the pure white dunes in the soft late afternoon sun.

It is a warm evening and the Barking Geckos, Underwoodisaurus milii are on the move.
