When we have no guests it gives us time to do some maintenance and run into Cocklebiddy to pickup stores, gas and equipment. Cocklebiddy is a remote road house on the Eyre Highway, the staff there are very kind and helpful to us, they are generous with their time and effort and it has made our life so much easier, and although an hour away from base they are great neighbours.

There is no job that doesn’t involve multitasking. We also use the trip to grade the North track, the main access to the highway to our north.

We continue to find many flowering plants and some of them are quite unusual.

Pink Cockatoos are regular visitors and companions and many come in to drink in the afternoon and later hop onto the Quandong trees that exist around the main building to eat the green unripe fruit then it’s off in a flurry with plenty of squawking to their night time roost.

We have also had a bird of prey visiting one of the bird baths, giving us a fierce glare while photographing it.
