We are now in the Great Sandy National Park, after driving from Tewantin, crossing the Noosa River via ferry then 40km drive northwards along the beach to our camp.
It’s mid-week and there are only a few travelers and campers.
At Freshwater Campground Cooloola Section, there is plenty of wildlife, large skinks, monitors and birdlife. The insects are interesting too and there is plenty of native vegetation in flower or fruiting or both.
The trip to Teewah Beach via the Leisha Track is well worth the drive. Apart from getting a closeup view of the multi coloured sand dunes the lagoon is a great and safer place to have a dip. The bay is beautiful today, with stunning colours and a perfect temperature.
We drive out on the Freshwater track, it’s sandy but quite ok for a 4WD, we traverse coastal forest on dunes and rainforest, it’s a beautiful drive.
