High Country, ranges, hills and desert 19 Sept 2023

A strong wind has continued, making for a cooler night, this is a treat given the temps have reached mid 30s°C over the last few days. We venture off to explore Brachina Gorge, Glass Gorge and Parachilna Gorge. There is water flowing in Brachina Gorge making it an interesting bird watching spot as we find the White-necked Heron and Masked Lapwing present. Frogs are also calling, given we are exploring such an arid area it’s unusual. If you love geology Brachina Gorge is a must visit location, ample informative signage about the diverse geology can be found here.

We enjoy lunch at Blinman and purchase a Quandong pie to have for desert later on. We quickly explore historic rail infrastructure and the ruins of Beltana, where we find a number of historic buildings have been renovated and are now private dwellings.

We have moved further north and now camped at Leigh Creek.
