Our weekly stores pickup from the postie means we meet him where our track intersects the highway, that’s one hour from our base. A Bustard decides to saunter across the track.
We are into our final week at the Eyre Bird Observatory and the workload is slowing down, time available to photograph the night sky on one of the uncommon clear night sky’s.
One of our last major tasks is to take a vehicle to Esperance to be serviced, it is 7 1/2 hours driving time. We eat out, no cooking and no washing up, what a treat. Esperance is a beautiful region, some of Australia’s most magnificent beaches are found here. And the flowers are equally beautiful and there so many varieties.
We noted on the way to Esperance near Fraser Range that trees had been twisted apart and flung across the ground, looked like a mini tornado had gone through these wooded hills. We have lunch at Balladonia inside the museum, it’s worth a look. We also get a chance to farewell our fuel supplier who just happens to be bringing fuel into Balladonia in his truck towing three fuel trailers. We finally make Cocklebiddy, it will be the last time we see our local roadhouse for some time we imagine.
We manage to squeeze in another trip to Twilight Cove, it’s a beautiful place. A grand finale to a great adventure.
