One can only describe this day as an adventure. We travel through water, mud, corregations, sand and dust, all in one day. We are all tired but better for the challenge.
There was a lot of water. Click here to see.
Remaining at Purnie bore was not an option as while water is in good supply food is limited and the health and well being of travelers is a concern when the elements are at their extremes, more rain this Friday gave us no option but to continue westward.
Our crossing at one point involved navigating 5km of water covered landscape. It was essential that we had companions as getting bogged was a real threat and having someone to assist in recovery reduced the stress and timeframe to recovery exponentially. Good comms equally essential.
We still had time to spot wildlife. The Letterwing kite was a great find.
We cross a creekline deeply eroded by water and encrusted with salt, the water in the creek is clear but salty.
At the end of the day we reached Dalhousie Springs, an oasis in the middle of a harsh environment. First stop on arrival a dive into the spring.
