2021 trip – Day 1 Redlands to Yuleba

We are finally heading off, the roads are open and the borders too. We pick up our friends, and at a leisurely pace we head West. First stop is at Dalby on the Myall Creek for late morning tea, then onto Jackson for late lunch at the old school play shed where Marg’s mum and dad have a commemorative plaque dedicated to them. The shed recognises first nation people and one cannot imagine the unfair loss and hardship they faced, it also recognises the pioneering effort of the early settlers. It was a different time and place, and hard for us to comprehend, let alone make sound judgement but it’s worthwhile to reflect upon when making decisions today. They certainly were tough and resilient people and much of what we enjoy today in Australia is because of the efforts of past generations.

Camp tonight is on Judd’s Lagoon, its going to be a cold night but a hot dinner from the Travel Buddy (12 volt oven) and camp fire makes a difference.
