A beautiful morning, blue sky and warm, a good start to the trip.
First stop; pancakes for breakfast at number one daughter and Scotties place. It’s going to be a slow day.
We point the truck South and get no further than Jimboomba and are first at the scene of a single vehicle accident . An elderly gentleman come to grief after hitting concrete guard rail. We check driver sole occupant is ok and call for help. I seem to remember doing this quite often many eons ago. Within 15 minutes we are hemmed in by tow trucks, fire trucks, police and ambulance. Oh well it is a holiday we are not in a rush.
After an hour we are on the move. We head along the Lions Road through the farmland and border ranges, lunch at the Loop lookout. Bell birds and other feathered friends are active, a chorus that doesn’t stop. It’s a great spot for a break, basic amenities, great views and wildlife and interesting rail engineering history.
Moving along to Kyogle and Grafton along the Summerland Road then along Waterfall Way to Ebor, this latter road winds over mountains and through the Nymboida-Binderay National Park, the big timber vegetation is beautiful.
We stop at the Ebor Falls Hotel Motel, they provide camping out the back and the bar and sticky date pudding for dessert were a real bonus. It’s a friendly pub and good place to end the day.
