Mt Elizabeth

A slow start today. We enjoyed breakfast whilst sighting a Purple-crowned Fairy Wren. With cattle removed and AWC cool burn fire management applied these endangered birds seem to be doing quite well.

We stop at Galvin Gorge for a swim. This is a small gorge but one of the prettiest in the Kimberley. It’s distinctive feature is the loan Boab at the top of the waterfall.

We drive on and make Mt Elizabeth station our campsite for the night.

We are trialling our Nephews fungi pack “Fun Guy Fungi”. It’s Oyster Mushroom fungi spores mixed with used coffee grounds collected from coffee shops in Adelaide. It’s a great way to recycle coffee grounds. After a week we have enjoyed our first crop of Oyster Mushrooms cooked and added to a rice stir fry. Very tasty and great to have fresh mushroom added to the menu.

Mt Elizabeth is a good camp site. Hot showers and flushing toilets. It’s a working cattle station and the managers are very friendly.
