We are up early but after a visit to the supermarket, the service station, and info centre we need a coffee shop and a moment with internet reception to book transit permits through Aboriginal communities. Alice Springs now has a Bunnings so we have to visit. This all made for a late morning start.
We headed West along Namatjira Drive to Gosse Bluff, the site of an asteroid impact and of significance to local indigenous people. The West MacDonnell ranges are rugged and impressive.
We then made our way to the Tanami Road onto Tilmouth Well where we refuelled and then headed West into the Tanami to Newhaven. A late start made for a late finish. However, a hot meal, camp fire and warm breeze makes for a good end to the day.
A spectacular moon shining through light high cloud, and the breeze blowing through the trees. Who needs anything else?
