Taroom to Bunya Mountains

Taroom is cold then again Southern QLD all sounds cold.

We visit the Liechhardt tree in Taroom and the Glebe Weir. We stop to look at the boggamosses. http://www.environment.gov.au/cgi-bin/sprat/public/publicspecies.pl?taxon_id=67458. These are unique and important mound springs, home for some rare species.

Isla Gorge is stunning, rugged sandstone gorge. You could easily explore this gorge for days.

Today is a trip through minor roads and some tracks as much as possible to reach the Bunya’s.

The back roads along and across the Dawson River are pretty. The tall palms along the Dawson were impressive.  We stop at Boondooma Homestead, it’s a wonderful old heritage station. We could have spent a few hours looking through the buildings. It hosts a number of big events through the year.

Bunya Mountains is cool, clouds are passing over it will be a misty morning.
