Blackdown Tableland to Taroom

Today we hoped to reach the Bunya Mountsins. We leave our HF VKS 737 friends and make a quick stop at the lookout just down the track. It’s stunning, escarpment country overlooking a broad timbered plain.

The day was an adventure. A short (???) trip through Expedition National Park was exactly that, an expedition. Like explorer Ludwig Leichhardt we blazed along forestry tracks and station tracks through Palmgrove and Expedition National Park. A few deviations along alleged short cuts were perhaps short in distance but not time. No one sighted on this leg of the journey!

The country is wonderful. Apart from some recent clearing the mixture of cattle country, forestry and National Park is quite beautiful.  The Dawson River Bottle Trees dot the landscape, they are iconic for this region.

We finally make Taroom, Bunya Mountains National Park is still 4 hours away so we call it a day.
