Kimberley 2013 – day 27

We amble off down the Gibb River Road again for some R&R at El Questro. : )

We have a swim in the Pentecost River and lunch at the township.

The rest of the afternoon is spent relaxing in the narrow fern clad El Questro Gorge. The water is crystal clear and fish inquisitive. It’s a real contrast to walk from a hot dry savannah landscape into a very cool rainforest draped over a vertical red rock wall. The water is cold but refreshing, it’s almost so clear you don’t see it in the shallower pools.

We enjoy a water crossing in the truck then head off looking about the property, which is 1 million acres in size. Then head up to the Branco’s Lookout for sunset. It’s a great view across some of the ranges and Chamberlain River particularly in the soft light.

Back to the Township for dinner and music and singing by a local lad from Kununurra.
