Kimberley 2013 – day 15

A relaxing start to the day. Breakfast then we tour around town gathering a few odds and ends. Shopping day is tomorrow afternoon, this is so we are fully stocked for the Gibb River Rd.

Viewed an art exhibition at the Civic Centre, some very talented artists. Certainly no shortage of subject matter for landscape artists.

We have coffee at a local coffee shop and then drive out to the Port. Watching supplies offloaded from a coastal barge. Derby sits on a narrow piece of terrestrial land bounded by salt pans, I wonder how they fair in cyclone season, high ground in short supply!

Catchup with Daryl on the sat phone and we head out to Windjana Gorge, it’s just down the road. Love the boabs that line the road out.

..

We have a great time chatting to Daryl, Elsie and friends. They have had some great adventures while flying their ultralights across Central Australia. It takes quite a bit of courage and a strong sense of adventure to do what they have done. Congratulations to them all and Happy 29th Birthday Daryl : )
