Day 51 – Windorah –
After leaving Windorah we see a solar panel array, 5 massive solar dishes which, it seems supplies Windorah with its electricity needs, it generates 360000 kwh per year.
We cross Cooper Creek which seems to be still flowing, the birdlife was phenomenal. With flocks of pelican and cormorants.
We take a look at Welford National
Park on the Barcoo River there is an amazing amount of water and the usual pelicans, cormorants and kites.
Then it’s off to Idalia National Park to find a campsite. Idalia has had a checkered past as a cattle station, but due to drought and plummeting beef prices it never did very well. As a national park it protects Mulga woodlands and the head waters of the
Bulloo River.
