Days 16 – Drysdale Station to Mitchell Falls

Slept under an amazing night sky and qwoke up to heavy dew and 7 degrees.

Crossed a number of rivers each and oasis and picturesque.

Rough doesn’t describe these roads. They look like a shallow fast flowing stream that’s are passing over rocks; a case of corrugations on corrugations, treacherous washouts.

Some of the roughest road encountered was found of this stretch. Crossed the Drysdale River early in the morning, mist rising from this flowing river as we crossed.

We passed vehicle on road we believed to be vehicle involved in road accident the night before. This stretch of road really requires your full attention when driving.

Dropped into King Edward Falls for a quick stop before climbing up onto the plateau. Savannah Woodland, Cabbage Palms, laterite and sandstone formations and water crossings, country I have never seen and it has great appeal to me.

Finally make Mitchelle Falls, we setup camp and then all take a quick swim at little Merton’s Falls. It was one sure way to reduce one’s core temperature.
