Day 7

Day 7 – Lorella Spring to Roper River

Headed North again. Visited the Southern Lost City. Incredible rock formations. Photos just don’t do them justice. Visited Butterfly Springs, Nathan Ranger station, no one at office but they have a huge area to cover.

Long way between stops. No wonder people drive fast up here. If you didn’t you never get to the next town before dark.

Road north started rough today but becomes increasingly better. Certainly roughest road so far travelled is Bowthorn station to Savannah Way and turnoff out off Borroloola to Lorella Springs is rough, rocky at times but dry.

Croc warnings on most major creeks now. Gave assistance to fellow traveller 90km out from Roper Bar used our Satellite phone to call in help to tow him out or fix his truck. Help leaving as we checked at Roper Bar.

Pool of water on side of road used by some for topping up drinking water and or bathing : ) Stopped at Roper Bar store for fuel and some supplies. Food expensive like fuel. Fuel $2.20L.

Blue Wing Kookaburra now constant sunset feature. Curlews, Owls and Dingoes common callers at night.

Weather warm during day and cool at night.
