We are getting a few jobs done around the house and setting up wildlife cameras to see what critters are roaming around. While we have not captured any photos of nighttime wildlife their activities and those of feral are captured on or just below the sand.
Still amazed how flora clings to life in the sandy landscape some not only survive but they are beautiful. Many plants lose many leaves and some perish, their carbon remains, adding fertility back into the sand. Surprisingly surface lichen does well in mallee if not disturbed by hoofed animals.
Some plants like the sedges we find at the base of the dunes suggesting water is not far down.
The skies are clear again and the stars are blazing overhead, it’s getting cold but we have a warm fire.
