Western Australia adventure – 19 April 2025

While in Port Lincoln we take time to explore the local region.

We travel to Port Neill to visit the Easter markets, there were some great finds to be found and purchased. This is a friendly community with a number of talented artistic residents. The foreshore is beautiful, landscaped in parts and left natural in others, the sandy white cove and blue waters is picturesque. Lunch is at the hotel very busy and popular as it provides tasty meals for locals and tourists visiting for the day or staying for the long weekend.

It’s then back down the coast a little and then a drive through the hills heading inland to the Koppio Smithy Museum. This is one of those places that you can return to many times and still learn something new and interesting. It has the most amazing collections of yesteryear, including household items, farm equipment and a range of memorabilia from services such as post offices, schools and telephone exchanges. The stories told and recorded in this museum are so important to collect, save and reflect upon.

A little further on we explore the environs around the Tod River reservoir, healthy mallee scrub and riparian habitat amongst a landscape of farmland it was refreshing to see. This reserve is open sunrise to sunset.

There are spectacular views to be seen from lookouts along the road back down to the coast. Views of the coastline and the hinterland are stunning in places.

Back at Port Lincoln we explore the port it’s a busy place, imports, exports and fishing.
