Dalby environs – March 2022

Five weeks from now we should be on our way to cross the Simpson Desert. This trip is a maintenance trip with a vehicle service and a chance to check over the camping gear and the vehicle.

It was nice to see the Condamine river still flowing following the recent flood event.

Camp tonight is at Lake Broadwater, the lake is full and birdlife abundant there are even Terns patrolling the lake. The are plenty of galahs on the wing and some human ones on the water in their boats having fun. The lake accommodates people and wildlife.

We cook dinner in our travel buddy, a great piece of Australian cooking technology and we watch the moon rise over the lake. Boobooks herald in the night under a sparkling starry sky. There is an amazing number of birds calling through the moonlit night.

The morning sunrise over the lake was spectacular.
