Innamincka

It has rained, and we are unable to leave Innaminka until the roads have officially re-opened. No problem, we enjoy the chance to explore the information centre and Cooper Creek and it’s wildlife. The creek is currently in flood and flowing well over the causeway. We stay at accomodation owned by the hotel, the room is very comfortable, the food plentiful and wonderful and staff very friendly.

When the road is finally opened we waste no time heading East. We traverse 14 km of flooded Cooper Creek flood plain near Durham Downs, We aim to stay at Thargomindah but the Bulloo River is rising again so we traverse more flood water and finally make a stop at the Eulo Hotel. We order a meal and room, as typical of country pubs the food is plentiful and tastes great and staff are friendly.

To cut a long journey short we dodged flooding rains and flooding plains by hours, roads we crossed were barely open, only to be closed a day later. We made it home, another adventure completed and a future one in the planning,
