We head along the river making a stop at the confluence of the Darling River and Murray River, a great expanse of water. Plenty of water birds.
We visit lock number 9 and drive through parts of Murray Sunset National Park,
Onto the Renmark information centre to get some bearings to Gluepot then lunch at the Barmera Bakery for one of their famous pasties and pies.
A stop at the Notable Overland Corner Hotel, and old stone pub, a great place to stop for a cool beverage with camping out the back if you want an overnight stop.
Onto Gluepot, a conservation park run by Birds Australia. It’s a great setup, well run and if you are into wildlife it’s a good place to visit. Campsites have basic amenities and devoid of noisy tourists. This mallee country is much reduced in area after extensive land clearing. It’s thanks to Birds Australia and local land holders that there is still a great patch out here to explore.
