We are woken just before midnight by rain and thunder. In 12 minutes we are packed and making a dash out of the ranges. It’s not a good spot to be in heavy rain. Flash floods and muddy roads are a likelihood. We head South to Port Augusta then North on the Stuart Hwy to go around the rain, stopping on the side of the road for a dry 3 hour sleep.
