Slept in, 8am! We looked around the ruins at Caiwarro then wandered down to the Paroo River crossing to watch tail end of flood water trickle over the crossing. It’s a nice spot for breakfast. White-plumed Honeyeaters are active. We then travel to main campsite at the Currawinya Woolshed. It’s a cold shower but it’s refreshing, open air view but you have to share with the flies. We walk around the abandoned buildings some renovated and used by parks. A stop at Hungerford Hotel for a cold drink then South to Wanaaring then through the Northern section of the Paroo-Darling National Park to White Cliffs. Mulga country mainly and plenty of red dust. Goats, emus and kangaroos are bountiful and they with an odd pig or two crowd the road to play chicken with our truck. We even see a feral cat. It makes for very slow going so we once again miss our scheduled radio call in. We roll into White Cliffs caravan park. There’s a sneaky (quite cold) breeze from the west and we batten down the hatches a little and find a warm camp kitchen for a hot meal. Then a hot shower, makes for a good evening. Plenty of falling stars throughout the night.
