Buntine HWY to Lake Argyle – day 7

10 hour sleeps are just bliss after a year of 6 – 7 hrs, and 10 – 15 hr shifts.

Cool breeze from the South wakes us. After breakfast we call into VKS737 Alice Springs Base and let all know we are all ok.

The Buntine Hwy is a good track, the Duncan Road is similar with a rough patch in the middle. The Duncan Rd runs to the east of Lake Argyle and wanders back and forth over the WA/NT border and is over 200kms long.

We sight our first boab tree and start crossing creeks with some of water. The bird life is prolific. We meet only three vehicles one at a bad patch of bull dust.

The landscape across the ranges is beautiful. Many gorges and hills worthy of exploring but leave that to another day.

We pass through quarantine at the main road into Western Australia minus veggies.

Lake Argyle! The Kimberley, first leg of trip completed.  The lake and ranges at night are glorious. A shower after two days and dinner at the bar, nice finish.
