Kimberley 2013 – day 4

An early rise today, it was the same for the choppers and motorbikes going mustering on the station.

The soft light of the early morning makes the bushland seem quite tame but there is no water in this landscape. Though rain has fallen along large areas of the Plenty and it looks like we are driving through parkland, small trees and new grass. Bushland from horizon to horizon.

We make a short stop at our favorite termite mound, the largest on the Plenty.

Plenty Highway is a very good dirt road and enough fuel stops to make it an easy drive, even if long.

We try to venture down Cattle Water Rd but it was closed (its a billy goat track) so we took another detour down Pinnacle Track and roamed around the track through ‘The Garden’ Station, Old Ambalindum and Arltunga this track is to the north west of Alice and brings us out into the Ferguson Range and into the south of Alice Springs. The geology of this range is fascinating.

Make it to Alice Springs, light rain so it’s a mild night tonight.
